Caesura Obscura was a site specific installation in Takoma Park MD in the summer of 2018 that transformed a forgotten pump house foundation into a riotously joy-filled pan-mystical sanctuary.
This small site, nestled into the side of a hill opposite a rushing creek, had gone largely unnoticed by the local community. It was an invisible ruin, ripe for a new life.
The idea was to fill the space with color, movement, and energy, creating a “cornicopiousness”, a magical moment of surprising beauty, a tiny unexpected place to come for solace, sanctuary, or peace.
A family of shapes and patterns were designed to feel universal and biological, pulling from images of nature and urban landscapes.
Imaginary Funhouse was an interactive installation consisting of epic, wall sized fabric banners, interactive games, and a button-o-matic vending machine. This show was initially conceived as a way to blend Clara’s design sensibility with her photographic work, weaving imagery and graphics into kaleidoscopic, bizarre landscapes, endless panoramas, and shifting patterns.
