A small, forgotten pump house foundation transformed into a riotously joy-filled pan-mystical sanctuary.

Caesura Obscura

Caesura Obscura, was an immersive, cosmic, welcoming sanctuary in an unused and unnoticed old foundation. Using a family of wildly patterned, screen printed fabric banners, Clara filled a forgotten pump house site, creating “cornicopiousness”, a magical moment of overwhelming and surprising beauty, a tiny unexpected place to come for solace, sanctuary, and peace.

Site specific installation, Takoma Park MD, Summer 2018

Layers of fabric create a pathway into a private place for contemplation and quiet.

Hand cut paper shapes influenced by botanical, anatomical, and cosmic systems were the basis for the patterns.
